The Magic City Hippies, Is there a story behind the band name? Originally we were The Robby Hunter Band, only because a bar called us that when we first playing bar gigs. We couldn’t think of a better name for us either. We released our first album titled “Magic City Hippies” under that band name, We used to live in this tropical, 70’s house.
After a long year
Eventually, Pat and John proved to be better accompaniment than his loop pedal, so the trio played regular bar gigs and built an audience locally. They formed as Robby Hunter Band, released the Magic City Hippies album, and adopted the title as their name. That LP gained traction in with syncs on The CW’s iZombie and Showtime’s Ray.
